U 13, Div. 4 Shield Final (01/10/23) Lilliput Gaels 3-07 St. Marys 2-11 Our U13s went down to an agonising one point defeat
in the Shield Final this afternoon in Moate. A large crowd was treated
to a highly entertaining game which was settled by the last kick of the
game. St. Marys got off to a flyer with an early goal and point before
Lilliput Gaels registered their first score on the 9 minute mark with a
fine goal from Daniel Masterson who followed it up with another on 11
minutes. Three further points from play, 2 from Dylan Ward and 1 from
Tadhg Seery left us trailing by a point at half time.
The Large support
may have been concerned that we faced into the second half playing
against the breeze, but they needn't have worried as stout defending
from our boys kept us in the game and a goal from Conor O'Neill
followed by a quick point from Tadhg Seery left us in a good position
going into the final 15 minutes. This stirred St. Marys into action and
three unanswered points followed by two from Darren Corcoran left the
game all square with time just up. One last throw of the dice from St.
Marys resulted in an attack from which they won a 45 and with it the
opportunity to return home with the spoils. The St. Marys placekicker
made no mistake in raising the white flag and claiming the shield at
the death.

luck to our U13’s who battled the inclement weather conditions in
Delvin this evening in their last group game in division 4.The lads

U 13, Div. 1 Championship Quarter Final (8/09/23) Lilliput Gaels 5-05 Athlone 4-10 We exited the championship in heartbreaking fashion in this game played in Ballinagore on Friday evening. Athlone made the early running and looked very sharp in their forward line but our lads slowly got to grips with the pace of the game and we went in at half time with a four point lead. After the break we took complete control of the game and at one stage we held a ten point lead but the visitors with the aid of several frees and a converted penalty got to within a point of our lead going into injury time. Athlone continued to attack and deep into injury time they struck for a goal to win the game. This was a brilliant game of football with great scores, excellent footpassing and terrific defending on show from both sides. Panel; John Dwyer, Mark Carey, Pauric Redmond, Cormac Tuite, James O'Connor,, Billy Whelan, Aaron Wallace, Daniel Masterson, Darren Corcoran, Aaron Kenny, Conor O'Neill, Jason Clarke, Jack Favier, Conor King, John Reynolds, Cillian Grennan, Adam O'Connor, Matthew Maloney, Daire Jackson, Eamonn Moore, Jack Geoghegan, Denis Rigney, Donnacha Mangan, Shane Austin. U 12 Garrycastle Tournament (16/07/23) Lilliput Gaels 1-07 St. Manchins 2-12 Our Under 12's hosted St. Manchins from Offaly in the first round of the Garrycastle Tournament in Castletown on Wednesday evening. We got off to a great start with a quickfire goal and a point but the physically bigger Offaly side dominated the remainder of the half and at the half time whistle they opened up a 2-6 to 1-2 lead. Lilliput came out a different side after their half time team talk and playing some excellent football they had our opponents pinned in their own half for the first 20 minutes of the second half. A late goal for St. Manchins sealed their deserved win on the night but if our team produce their second half performance in their remaining games against Garrycastle and Mulingar Shamrocks they could still progress in this tournament. Well done to the referee ,Vinny Cox, who made the game a very enjoyable spectacle for the large crowd present. Both teams were delighted to be able to use the new dressing rooms and the Offaly mentors and parents were hugely impressed with the new complex . but definitely not least we played the Downs in Loughnavalley on
Thursday to round off a busy week. Those in attendance were treated to
a enthralling encounter that ebbed and flowed throughout. A fantastic
haul of 2-1 from S. Austin helped the team to a 1 point win over a
strong Downs side. This was just rewards for the work being put in by
the players and they can be very proud of their display. Well Done to
all.

U 13 League Div. 1 (15/04/23) Lilliput Gaels 8-03 The Downs 5-12 Our U13 football teams were in action last Thursday and Friday evenings. Our Division 4 side battled until the end but ultimately lost out to a strong Inny Shamrocks side on Thursday evening. Our Division 1 team played out an exciting draw with The Downs on Friday evening in Ballinagore. Well done to all, keep up the great work. U 13 League Div 4 (31/03/23) Our Under 13 Panel
began the 2023 season in unfamiliar territory tonight, our large panel
of enthusiastic players allowed us to field two teams in the league for
the first time. With just one training session under their belts, the
squad headed to Multyfarnham and Garrycastle to begin their league
campaigns. With all players getting valuable game time, it will stand
them in good stead for the season ahead.
Our U13's played
Multyfarnham in Round 1 of the Division 4 league. This was the first
competitive action for a number of players as they made the step up
from U11 Go Games blitzes. Despite the inclement weather and difficult
playing conditions, the lads put in a determined performance but gave
way to a more experienced Multyfarnham side.
Team: Shane Austin,
Oisin Clarke, Adam O'Connor, Eamon Moore, James O'Connor, Cathal
Kiernan, Conor King, Matthew Maloney, Jamie Cheetham, Aaron Kenny,
Dennis Rigney, Lochlainn O'Brien, Daire Jackson.
U 13 League Div 1 (31/03/23) We also sent a team
to Athlone to begin our Division 1 campaign against Garrycastle. Again,
conditions were not conducive to free flowing football but we displayed
plenty of grit and determination regardless. Racing into a 7 point lead
at half time against the breeze, we finished the game with our backs to
the wall and dug in to secure a 1 point victory in the end. Team :
Ronan Gunning, Jack Geoghegan, Padraic Redmond, Cormac Tuite, Daniel
Masterson, Billy Whelan, Aaron Wallace (0-1), Darren Corcoran(0-2),
Jason Clarke, Jack Favier, Conor O'Neill (1-0), Donnacha Mangan, Mark
Carey, John Reynolds (2-0), Cillian Grennan (0-2), Noah Redmond.
Well done to
everyone who travelled to fulfill these fixtures considering the
weather and a special mention to many of our players making the step up
to u13 this evening.
Under 12 Garrycastle Tournament Final
Lilliput Gaels 2-16, St. Marys 2-04.(9th of October, 2022) Our U12 Panel took on St.Marys Rochfortbridge in the Shield Final of the annual
Jim McHugh Memorial tournament in Garrycastle today. After qualifying
from a group containing Shandonagh, Mullingar Shamrocks and Cill Oige
the team beat Athlone in the semi-final to qualify for the tournament
final day where we took on St. Marys. Fresh from an agonising
last-minute defeat to St. Marys in the U13 Shield final it was a great
opportunity to end the season on a high note.
After the warm up,
our hosts treated the spectators to a well organised introduction of
all players and we stood to attention during a memorable rendition of
amhran na bhfiann. The referee threw in the ball and our boys were off
to a flyer with an early goal from a speculative effort from Cillian
Grennan. Four Darren Corcoran points split by a fine effort from Denis
Rigney left us in a strong position before St. Marys responded with 1-1
of their own. Darren Corcoran pointed two more frees before St. Marys
finished the half with a goal of their own. Leading at half time by a
score of 1-7 to 2-2 left us in a strong position after electing to play
against the wind in the first half, and our boys were particularly
impressive in the second half with the wind. We added a further 9
points in the second half with team Captain James O’Connor coming
in to register and impressive 1-2 and further points from Daniel
Masterson and Aaron Wallace. Our Midfield and Defence kept a dangerous
St. Marys attack at bay throughout and were a huge factor in this
impressive victory.
It was a fantastic
end to the season for this young group and all that remained was for
James O’Connor to accept the Shield on behalf of Lilliput Gaels
and Darren Corcoran to receive a well-deserved referees Man of the
Match award. Thanks again to our hosts Garrycastle GAA
for organising a very enjoyable event for our u12 players and to St.
Marys for a very sporting and exciting game. We look forward to meeting
your group in the years ahead.

U13's began the year with a great win against Garrycastle on a lovely
evening for football in Athlone. Despite not having played much
football this early in the year and the fact that this was the first
taste of competitive football for many players, our young side proved
themselves well up to the task. Leading by 1-6 to 0-7 at half time, our
defence limited the opposition to three scores in the second half to
build a strong foundation for the win.

Under 13 League Div. 1 Semi Final (27th of August, 2021) Lilliput Gaels 5-11 The Downs 6-13
Lilliput Gaels hosted The Downs in the eagerly awaited Division 1 championship semi-final on Friday evening. Played in splendid conditions and in front of a big crowd, the game, a high scoring contest wasn’t to disappoint. The Downs, the more physically stronger of the two teams, opened the scoring but in a close first half a late scoring burst of 1-02 just before half time, saw our hosts hold a five point lead at the short whistle. The Downs dominated much of the third quarter, as the loss through injury to some key players both before the game and into the second half proved costly. However, this team never knows when they are beaten and continued to chip away at the lead. A late goal from the hosts left two points between the sides and set up an exciting finish. Lilliput continued to pour forward and hit the crossbar, which would have seen them take the lead. However our visitors were a quality side and closed out the game with a quick fire three points. Great credit to the Lilliput players for the courage, determination and skill they displayed, in what was a thoroughly enjoyable summer of football. Panel; Darren Corcoran, Frazer Young, Fionn McKinlay, Conor Robinson, Conor Corcoran, Darragh Mulligan, Billy Whelehan, Cian Corcoran, Gavin Ennis, Dylan Ward, Luke Robinson, Aaron Wallace, Tadgh Seery, Ciaran Doran, Jack Favier, Mason Slevin, Mark Carey, Daniel Masterson, James O’Connor, Pauric Redmond. Under 13 League Div. 1 Quarter Final (11th of August, 2021) Lilliput Gaels 3-12 Mullingar Shamrocks 4-08 After a breathtaking encounter our Under 13's advanced to the Division 1 semi final with a one point win in this game played in Ballinagore before a very appreciative crowd. A bigger and well drilled Shamrocks side looked to have one foot in the next round when they held a deserved seven point lead at half time on a scoreline of 2-6 o 0-5 although we were unlucky to hit the crossbar twice with goalbound efforts before the break. The boys came out very determined after the interval and by the second water break we had overtaken Shamrocks by four points aided by a well taken goals from Dylan Ward and Tadhg Seery. With just five minutes left a brilliant goal from Mark Carey put us seven points up but Mullingar came back with two goals to leave us hanging on at the end but some brilliant defending saw us home. Well done to the lads and their management on this brilliant display of football and we must also congratulate a skillful Shamrocks side aswell as the referee, Barry Pierce, for their part in this entertaining encounter. Panel: Daire Fagan, Conor Corcoran, Fionn McKinlay, Conor Robinson, Padraic Redmond, Darragh Mulligan, Darren Corcoran, Cian Corcoran, Gavin Ennis, Dylan Ward, Luke Robinson, Jack Favier, Tadgh Seery, Ciaran Doran, Mark Carey, Carrol Murtagh. Under 13 League Div. 1 (6th of August, 2021) Lilliput Gaels 2-09 Athlone 1-04 Lilliput Gaels qualified for the quarter finals of Division 1 following victory away to Athlone on Friday evening. Conditions were terrible for football due to the incessant rain with the game actually stopped for a short period with ten minutes left. We finished the game strongly with several well taken scores to qualify for the knockout stages where we take on Mullingar Shamrocks next Wednesday evening in Ballinagore at 7pm. Panel: Daire Fagan, Conor Corcoran, Fionn McKinlay, Conor Robinson, Daniel Masterson, Darragh Mulligan, Darren Corcoran, Cian Corcoran, Gavin Ennis, Aaron Wallace, Luke Robinson, Billy Whelan, Tadgh Seery, Ciaran Doran, Jack Favier, Mason Slevin. Under 13 League Div. 1 (14th of July, 2021) Lilliput Gaels 7-17 Garrycastle 7-11 Well
done to a very talented Under 13 side who followed up their first round
win against Coralstown/Kinnegad with an excellent 7-17 to 7-11 win over
Garrycastle in Ballinagore on Wednesday evening. This was a cracking
game which ebbed and flowed as each side enjoyed periods of dominance
with Lilliput Gaels well in front at the first water break but
Garrycastle fought back to lead on a scoreline of 5-4 tp 2-8 at
halftime. The introduction of fresh legs done the trick in the second
half and we really combined well in the forward line to notch some
great scores. Well done to both sides on a fine game and to referee
Michael Gordon who also played his part in providing the large crowd
present with a great evenings entertainment.
Panel; Daire Fagan, Frazer Young, Fionn McKinlay, Conor Robinson, Conor Corcoran, Fionn Jackson, Darren Corcoran, Cian Corcoran, Gavin Ennis, Dylan Ward, Luke Robinson, Billy Whelan, Tadhg Seery, Ciaran Doran, Jack Favier, Daniel Masterson, Padraig Redmond, James O’Connor, Aaron Wallace, Mason Slevin, Mark Carey. (30th of June, 2021) Lilliput Gaels 5-06 Coralstown/Kinnegad 3-11 Our Under 13's started off their season with a great win in Kinnegad on Wednesday evening. Expectations were not high of getting a result against one of the strongest sides in Division 1 as we have to use a number of our Under 11 squad but our sides ability to score goals was the winning of this game. Panel; Daire Fagan, Frazer Young, Fionn McKinlay, Conor Robinson, Conor Corcoran, Daire Mulligan, Darren Corcoran, Cian Corcoran, Gavin Ennis, Aaron Wallace, Luke Robinson, Billy Whelan, Tadhg Seery, Ciaran Doran, Jack Favier, Daniel Masterson, Padraig Redmond, James O’Connor. Under 13 Div. 2 Championship Semi Final (19th of September, 2020) Lilliput Gaels 3-08 Moate All Whites 7-07 We travelled to Moate on Saturday to take on the home side in the Division 2 Championship Semi Final. Moate had a far physically bigger side and aided by the strong breeze they made their size advantage count in the first half as they raced into a thirteen point half time lead. There did not seem to be any way back into the game for our lads but they came out fighting in the third quarter to reduce the lead to four points when the scoreboard read 5-5 to 3-6 in Moate's favour with fifteen minutes left. We had the majority of possession going into the final ten minutes and a shock comeback looked on the cards but two breakaway attacks for Moate resulted in a goal and a point and with our lads running on empty Moate got in for another goal in the final minutes to secure a hard earned success. Every player on the panel can certainly hold their heads high after this massive performance against the biggest side we have met in the competition and they certainly gave the crowd present an excellent game of football. Thanks to the mentors for all the work they put in with the panel during a very trying few months and the main thing was that these youngsters got back playing football and enjoyed every minute of this shortened season. Panel: Dara Fagan, Conor Maloney, Aaron Jackson, David O'Malley, Fionn McKinley (0-1), Shane Maloney, Sean Bolger, Cian Corcoran (0-1), Dylan Corrigan (0-1), Dara Mulligan, Patrick Maloney (0-2), Luke Robinson (1-2), Oisin McCabe, Rory Quinn (2-1), Gavin Ennis, Ciaran Doran, Eoin Carey, Frazier Young. Under 13 Div. 2 Championship Quarter Final (3rd of September, 2020) Lilliput Gaels 5-13 Caulry 3-10 Our U13 footballers qualified for the Semi Final of the Championship after this impressive win in Ballinagore last Thursday evening.
