U14 Division 6 Shield Final
(7th of November 2024) Lilliput Gaels 4-08 Kilbeggan Shamrocks 2-01
Our
U14 footballers brought the curtain down on our underage season with a
fine win over neighbours, Kilbeggan Shamrocks, last Thursday evening in
a bright and balmy Ballinagore. Bright and balmy is not what you might
expect in November but taking into account that this was the first
competitive game under our new floodlights and with the recent spell of
unseasonably
warm weather, it's a fair assertion and the large turnout of supporters
for both sides were more than comfortable as they were treated to a
very entertaining game between two talented sides. Our lads settled
early and were full value for their six point lead at the break. An
early goal in the second half was cancelled out by a Kilbeggan three
pointer soon after. The scoreline doesn't do justice to our opponents,
who bouyed on by this goal, piled on a lot of pressure in the second
half but were guilty of some poor finishing in front of goal. A flurry
of late scores sealed the result in our favour in the end. The win was
a fitting finale for our U14 footballers who have worked very hard over
the course of the season, reaching the Division 1 decider and now
capturing our only underage silverware of the year by winning the
Division 6 shield. It was our first time to enter two teams at an
underage grade and the commitment by both players and mentors has paid
off with massive improvements on display. Well done to all involved on
a great season and win.
U14 Division 1 Championship Final
Lilliput Gaels 1-11 St. Lomans 2-10
(Saturday 26th of October 2024) Our
U14 footballers created their own bit of history as they became
the first side in our juvenile club to play in a Division 1
championship final. Unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of an
extra time thriller in Killucan but, needless to say, we are all very
proud of the players who along with their mentors put in a tremendous
amount of work during the year to reach the decider. St Loman's to
their credit were formidable opponents and this was a tight game that
hung in the balance all the way through. Level at 0-03 apiece at half
time, we lead by 0-06 to 0-04 midway through the second half. However
we were rocked back with not one but two St Lomans goals coming down
the final stretch. A pointed free left three between the sides coming
into injury time and when we were awarded a penalty we really felt that
this was our lifeline. Hearts sank when the shot went narrowly wide but
the beauty of football and sport is that it's never over until the
final whistle and when Darren Corcoran blasted a free from the 21 yard
line into the top corner moments later, the excitement levels were off
the richter scale as we headed towards another twenty minutes of extra
time. Unfortunately for us, St Loman's got three points ahead in extra
time and this turned out to be enough to close out the game despite our
lads throwing absolutely everything at them. Congratulations to St
Loman's on their win and commiserations to our panel and their mentors
on a magnificent season.

In Division 1 our lads suffered a narrow one point defeat to Mullingar Shamrocks, 1-12 to 2-10, while our Division 6 side gave a great account of themselves but came up short against neighbours Kilbeggan Shamrocks. Keep up the great work lads 10th of July 2024 Both our U14 teams began their championship campaigns on Wednesday evening. In Division 1 we travelled to Athlone to take on their first team. In a close and entertaining encounter, the home side prevailed by two points. Next up is a home fixture against Mullingar Shamrocks on the 24th July. Our Div 6 side hosted Maryland-Tang in Ballinagore. After a very good start the lads only trailed by three points at half time. However, the visitors had a strong finish to the second half and took the two points on offers. A number of U12 players were involved on the night and they all accounted for themselves admirably. Under 15 Championship Final (22nd of October, 2023) Lillput Gaels 3-06 Tubberclair 2-11 Our U15’s took on Tubberclair in the Division 2 final played in Bunbrosna GAA grounds on Sunday
Tubberclair
started the brighter and scored two early points. Lilliput responded
impressively with two goals scored by Ciaran Doran and Fionn McKinley
to take control of the game. However with defences on top, scores for
the remainder of the half were difficult to come by. Tubberclair
finished the half stronger and narrowed the gap to three points at the
break.Just like the first half, Tubbercalir came out of the traps with
a point direct from the throw in. As the half progressed two goals in
quick succession saw Tubberclair hold a healthy lead. With the game
entering the final stages Lilliput needed a lifeline and that duly came
when Luke Robinson’s shot found the bottom corner, it was all to
play for. Lilliput started to dominate around the middle again and laid
siege to the Tubbercalir’s goal, looking for a leveller and to
take the game to extra time, and how close they came. First Darren
Corcoran’s shot was taken of the line and a few minutes later he
came even closer when another great run and shot clipped the top of the
crossbar and went over the bar. While it was not to be, the lads can
take great heart and fought to the bitter end. Thanks to the players and
management team for their efforts all year.
Panel..Daire Fagan, Frazer Young, Conor Corcoran , Billy Whelan, Darren Corcoran, Darragh Mulligan, Conor Robinson, Cian Corcoran, Luke Robinson, Daniel Masterson, Gavin Ennis, Dylan Ward, Ciaran Doran, Fionn McKinley, Tadgh Seery, Aaron Wallace, Jack Favier, James O’Connor. Under 15 Championship Semi Final (7th of October, 2023) Lillput Gaels 4-14 Athlone 1-05 Athlone
were the visitors to Ballinagore on Saturday morning for the eagerly
awaited semi-final of the U15 Division 2 championship. Despite not
having played since late August, Lilliput started brightly taking the
game to our visitors. An early goal from Daniel Masterson was just
reward for some early pressure. Great defending from the team made it
difficult for Athlone to register scores and two further goals from
Fionn McKinley, left us in a strong position at the break. A fightback
from Athlone was expected in the second half and they duly delivered.
An early goal and some good free taking cut the lead. With Lilliput
starting to make a number of unforced errors a possible comeback looked
on. However, the lads settled and a number of well worked scores in the
last ten minutes, saw them finish the game stronger and secure a place
in the final. Our final opponents will be Tubberclair, the only team to
have beaten them in the group stage, no doubt the lads will be eager to
reverse that result. No details yet on when that final will be played,
but all support would be welcome.

(16th of August, 2023) Lillput Gaels 5-11 Athlone 0-06 Round
4 of the group stage saw the team host Athlone in Ballinagore last
Wednesday evening. In an evenly contested first half, with both
defences on top, a well worked move was finished to the net by Daniel
Masterson which left the team 5 up at half time.
Athlone
started the second half brighter, but some great defending meant they
had to work hard for their scores. As the half wore on, Lilliput gained
the ascendancy around the middle
which ensured a good supply of ball to our forward line which was
rewarded with some excellent scores. A few late goals put some extra
daylight between the team at the finish.
This
was the team’s best performance of the year and hopefully they
can keep this going for the last round of games, where a place straight
to the semi-finals is up for grabs, something our opponents Inny
Shamrocks will also be seeking.

U15’s who recorded their second win in the championship with a
fine win over a strong Lomans side in this game played in Lakepoint

The ability to get
goals, including three in the fist half, proved decisive, with the team
winning on a final score line, of 4-07 to 0-13. Well done lads!

(19th of July, 2023) Tubberclair
were the visitors to Ballinagore for Round 2 on Wednesday evening. A
heavy shower just before throw in made handling a little difficult, but
that didn’t stop both teams serving up a rip roaring contest,
which saw our opponents take the spoils by the bare minimum, following
a rousing comeback from the home side.
Tubberclair started brightly with an early goal before Lilliput settled into the game, but despite lots of possession
were unable to make it pay on the scoreboard. Tubberclair with a second
goal on the counter attack and two late points took a three point lead
into the break.
With
a very dynamic and dangerous central attacking line, Tubberclair
dominated much of the second half and tagged on some great scores to
open up a substantial lead. The game looked to be gone from Lilliput,
but in a storming finish, where we laid siege to our opponents goal,
the lads started to find their scoring boots.
With
time nearly up, it was back to a one point game and great excitement
all round. A great turnover in Lilliput defence gave us one last chance
to get the equaliser. Despite a great move the shot for a point just
trailed wide and with that, the final whistle sounded.
Great
credit to the lads for never giving up and coming so close to getting
something from the game, which can only benefit them in the games ahead.

Under 15 Championship. (5th of July, 2023) Our
U15’s commenced their championship campaign on Wednesday evening,
with a trip to North Westmeath to take on St Michaels. Due to holidays
and injuries, the team only had the bare 15 players available. The lads
started well against a strong and physical St Michaels team, but left a
number of scoring opportunities behind them. Gradually they started to
find their scoring boots and some long range points along with three
green flags, gave the team a nice lead at the break.
A
heavy shower during the break make ball handling difficult for both
sides and scores were hard come by. In a very even contested second
period with defences on top both teams registered some good scores.
Were it not for some good defending, great saves and luck, our
opponents would of registered many more scores during this period.
However the lads never stopped trying and finished strong with some
late scores to secure a deserved win and get their campaign off to a
positive start.
The
team like to wish Aaron Wallace well in his recovery from injury and
look forward to having him back later in the summer. The second round,

Under 15 Division 1 League. (14th of May, 2023) Our U15’s travelled to Hogan Park Moate for the latest round of league games on Sunday morning. Playing with the aid of the breeze, the lads quickly settled and raced into a four point lead with some well taken scores. Moate soon replied and with the aid of a somewhat lucky goal took the lead. The lads responded to this setback, to close out the half with the last three points, to hold a slender lead at the break. The early stages of the second half were keenly contested with Lilliput very much in contention mid-way through the half. However, a combination of a strengthening wind and the absence of some regulars, saw Moate gradually take control of the game, and a few late goals, saw them take the points and a deserved victory. Despite defeat, there is plenty of positives for the team to take from today’s game, with some excellent scores, great work rate and the performance of our younger players, particularly in the first half. Panel: John Reynolds, Frazer Young, Daire Fagan, Conor Robinson, Conor Corcoran, Cian Corcorcan, Darren Corcoran, Luke Robinson, Gavin Ennis, Daniel Masterson, Ciaran Doran, James O’Connor, Tadhg Seery, Fionn McKinley, Aaron Wallace, Padraic Redmond, John Dwyer Under 15 Division 1 League. (27th of April, 2023) Round 3 of Division 1 league saw the team host The Downs in Ballinagore on Friday evening. The
game started with an early burst of goals, The Downs with the first,
but Lilliput responded through Fionn McKinley and Tadgh Seery. Indeed
in an early spell of dominance, Lilliput were very unfortunate not to
add further goals as they put some great attacks together. However our
physically imposing opposition, soon seized control of the game in the opening half at the end of which they held a decent lead.
The
boys never stopped trying in the second half but found it difficult to
break through a strong defence. The highlight of which was a great move
the length of the field, which resulted in a penalty, expertly
despatched by Daire Fagan
We say well done to the winners on an excellent performance.

Div. 1 Feile (The Downs 14th of April 2023) Last Saturday saw the lads compete in Division 1 of the Feile, held in The Dows, in a
group containing our hosts and Mullingar Shamrocks. Lilliput’s first
game was against Mullingar, who already had a win under their belts and
in a tight and evenly contested tussle, the game finished all square.
That
left us requiring a win and a concession of no more than five points,
to qualify for Sunday’s final. This game was another tight affair with
defences on top and scores at a premium. However a great goal mid way
throSaturdayugh the second half left us holding a three point lead coming into
the final moments and one foot in the final. However in the last play,
a very contentious penalty was awarded to our opponents, when a free
out looked the more correct decision. Despite a brilliant save, the
rebound fell kindly and was despatched to the net. Another draw was not
enough for the team to progress and that spot was taken by Mullingar.
While disappointed at being so close to the final, the team played with
heart, determination and skill and should be very proud of their
efforts.

Coralstown/Kinnegad
4- 10A
busy week for the U15’s commenced with the visit of
Coralstown/Kinnegad to Ballinagore last Wednesday evening for the
second round of the league, in what was very tough conditions for
football. Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half Lilliput
quickly took the lead but couldn’t pull away from our oppontents
who were able to match our scores. A goal conceded close to half time,
left us trailing by the minimum at the break. Against physically
stronger opponents and the wind, the second half was always going to be
a challenge. However the lads never gave up and battled to the very
end, however Coarlstown/Kinnegad pulled away ,with some good scores for
a well deserved and convincing win.

Shandonagh
2- 10The U15s opened Division 1 league campaign, away to Shandonagh on Wednesday evening.
This
was an exciting, close and free flowing game throughout. While
Shandonagh dominated the early exchanges, Lilliput responded as the
half went on and nothing separated the teams at half time.
The
second half followed in much the same way. A key moment, was a
brilliant save from a Shandonagh penalty. This gave the lads the
confidence and they finished stronger, to win the game by three points.

traveled to Kinnegad to take on favourites Inny Shamrocks in the
championship final played in difficult conditions in Kinnegad on
Saturday. Having being beaten comprehensively by our opponents in the
group stages our boys were really up for this game . We played
excellent in the first half totally dictating the pace of the game and
built up a 2.05 to 0.01 halftime lead . We knew our opponents would
come back guns blazing in the second half and that they did but our
boys weathered the storm and finished the stronger team securing a
memorable win . We would like to wish Inny Shamrocks player Killian
Mooney a speedy recovery . Afterwards team captain Patrick Maloney was
presented the championship trophy by Kevin Jordan .

1- 09We hosted St.
Michaels in Castletown Geoghegan on Friday evening last and despite a
sluggish first half display we came away with a nine point win.
St. Michaels were physically bigger in most positions of the field and
their direct ball into their tall forwards caused us problems in the
first half but we still managed to go in at half time leading on a
scoreline of 1-08 to 1-04. Our second half display was much improved
and we got the upperhand at midfield and with our passing to the inside
forwards quick and accurate we combined for several well taken points.

Better finishing by the Lomans forwards gave them a 4-05 to 1-06 half time lead but our lads upped their performance in the second half and their never say die attitude ensured that the game was in the balance until the final whistle. Well done to both sides on mastering the wet surface and next up for our side is Athlone. Coralstown/Kinnegad 4- 07We had our first win in the championship with this comfortable victory over a physically strong Coralstown/Kinnegad side in Ballinagore on Monday evening. With Peter Murphy located at full forward availing of a constant supply of long early deliveries from out the field the opposition were under a lot of early pressure. Adam Cassidy also availed of good layoffs from his forward colleagues to fire over four first half points to see us go in at the break with a lead of 5-06 to 0-03. When our oppenents came at us with vigour in the second half they found it difficult to get through our defence where both Sean Jackson and Christian Dowling were to the fore. Well done to the panel and management on getting our championship ambitions back on track with this impressive showing. Moate All Whites 6- 11Moate was the venue for this Shield final where it took extra time to decide the winner in a thrilling contest. After both sides posted early points we opened up a six point lead and we looked to be well in control of the game before Moate gained a foothold in the game and went in at half time just two points behind .The second half again saw us take a six point lead heading into the closing stages of the game before a penalty brought Moate back into the game and they then gained in confidence to draw level and force the game into extra time. Both sides somehow kept up the relentless pace in extra time and there was never more than a score between them but unfortunately for Lilliput Gaels it was Moate who held a slender lead at the full time whistle. This was a long but historic season for this panel as they annexed our first ever Division 1 Feile title as well as the Division 2 League title, huge credit must go to mentors Steve, Paddy, Robert and Fabian for all the work they put into coaching the lads throughout the year. Coralstown/Kinnegad 4- 06Our
U14 footballers qualified for the Division 1 Shield Final on Sunday
morning in Ballinagore when they overcame a skilful Coralstown/Kinnegad
side. Only a couple of points seperated the sides for most of the game
until a brace of second half goals helped us pull away for a deserved
seven point victory. With the majority of our players having
played for Castletown hurlers in their extra time championship
win on Saturday it was no wonder the boys were running on empty by the
end of this game. We now face Moate in the upoming final which is not
yet fixed. Under 14 Championship (22nd of September) Lilliput Gaels

Mullingar Shamrocks 4- 16The long season seems to be catching up with this group of players who have done their club proud in 2019 as we went down to our second heavy defeat in a row. We were still in with a chance at half time but seemed to run out of steam in the second half and Millmore pulled away to run out convincing winners. All is not lost for this team as they now enter the Division 1 Shield Semi Final. St. Lomans 8- 10St Loman's travelled out to Ballinagore on Sunday morning and as in our previous encounters this year the game turned into a cracking encounter. The lads had a very tough physical match against Moate just three days earlier and have to be complimented on putting in a fine display against one of the strongest sides in the county on Sunday. Indeed had we converted a few of the many goal chances we created the result could have went our way. Moate All Whites 3- 09Moate were the visitors to Ballinagore on Thursday evening and made our lads battle all the way in this tough encounter. The game was very evenly balanced in the first half and with Jack Mulligan in fine form from play and frees and Ronan McLavin bringing off some fine saves we went in at half time leading by 2-5 to 0-7. The game was won in the opening quarter of the second half where Philip Reynolds kicked over several long range points and a Peter Murphy goal gave us a twelve point lead with ten minutes left. Moate made a spirited comeback in the final five minutes when they fired in three goals but we held on for a welcome win as we strive for a semi final spot in the premier championship. Shandonagh 2- 05Cusack Park was the venue for this Division 2 League final where we had an unexpected easy victory over Shandonagh. With the aid of the wind our lads settled well and had four points on the board before Shandonagh struck for a goal to bring them back into the game. We then went four points up again before our opponents were awarded a very questionable penalty which fortunately was sent wide and the teams went in at half time with Lilliput Gaels holding a 2-08 to 1-03 lead. The second half was all one way traffic as our forwards made great use of the accurate passes sent in from our backs and midfielders. This was a good performance and will give the team and mentors plenty of confidence when they represent Westmeath in the Feile at the end of the month. Congratulations to this team's hardworking mentors Steve, Paddy, Robert and Fabian who have these young lads playing great football and are improving with every outing. With both sides having won five out of five games going into this clash it was always going to be a thriller and it certainly lived up to its billing. Shandonagh had taken St.Lomans to extra time in the Feile Semi Final and would have fancied their chances of taking the points but our lads are really hitting form at present and we pulled away in the final quarter to gain a deserved victory. This win leaves us Division 2 winners and also entry to the premier championship which will be a big test for this talented panel. St. Lomans 0 -07History
was created in Cusack Park on Friday evening when our Under 14 panel
annexed our first ever Feile Division 1 County title in one of the most
exciting finals played in headquarters in many a day. Taking on and
beating hot favourites, St. Lomans, was a victory which brought
comparisons to Mullinalaghta's giant killing feats of last year when
they proved that self belief and a tremendous work ethic can
succeed.
The
opening half was played at breakneck pace with both sides playing
lovely attacking football but also defending with great skill and
determination. With five minutes on the clock it was all square at a
point apiece but Lomans reeled off the next four points to hold a
commanding lead at the quarter hour mark. Our lads had created several
scoring chances but just as it seemed that we would go in at half time
in arrears we scored four fantastic points of our own to level matters
at the break.
The
huge support we had gave the lads a rousing ovation as they came out
for the second half which lifted the team as they had their opponents
on the back foot for the first ten minutes of the second half. It took
us until the final five minutes of the game to take a deserved one
point lead following a long range score from Jack Gannon but we were
left to rue several missed scoring chances when Lomans equalised with
time almost up. Extra time was looming and our defenders had to be on
their toes to keep out several attacks as the game seemed to be going
away from us but from a fantastic turnover we worked the ball up the
field and won a free from just outside the 45m line. Up stepped the
unflappable Peter Murphy to split the posts with the last kick of the
game and set in motion great scenes of jubilation at the final whistle.
Its
days like these that make the drive and dedication of all kids, mentors
and parents in our community in keeping the game alive worth every
minute of it as the lift this win gave everyone present had to be seen
to be believed when Sean Jackson accepted the cup.
Huge
credit has to go to the management team of Robert Gannon, Paddy
Corcoran and Stephen Franzoni who have worked with these players since
they were under 8's. The panel will certainly do Westmeath proud in the
Feile Finals to be held in Mayo in June where we will be hosted by

St. Marys 3 -06We travelled to Rochfortbridge on Sunday evening with the bare minimum panel as we only had fifteen players available, our thanks to the few U12's that played and helped us record a great victory against the home side. We played against the wind in the first half and found ourselves down by two points at half time. We took control early in the second half with a couple of goals. Rochfortbridge came back at us with a goal of the own but we finished very strong with some well taken points from distance which is great to see. After a bright start we raced into a six point lead and a shock looked on the cards but Moate fought back to go in at half time with a slender two point lead. The game was very competitive with the result in doubt up to the last five minutes of the game when Moate pulled away for a deserved win and we wish them luck in the county final. Well done to this talented bunch and their dedicated mentors who were more than a match for all teams in the county at premier level and only found Moate and Coralstown/Kinnegad too strong for us during a hugely successful season. Kilbeggan/St. Josephs 2 -06We remain on top of Division 1 after a close shave against our neighbours in this game played in damp conditions in Kilbeggan on Thursday evening. This was the third encounter between these sides this year and although we won all three games this was a game that the home side will feel they let slip. Kilbeggan/St. Josephs made all the early running and were well on top all over the pitch and three late points in the half was all we could register against our rampant opponents who were well worth their 2-4 to 0-3 half time lead. Our lads came out a different side in the second half and slowly chipped away at the big lead with Max Ripley carrying the ball out of defence time after time. We drew level with five minutes left and just when it looked like we would not get our noses in front as the home keeper kept out three certain goals a long range free landed in the net to put us in front for the first time in the game. A fantastic save from Sean Jackson prevented an equaliser and then in the final minute Cathal Elliffe finished off a great move with a super goal. .Panel: Sean Jackson, Oisin Kiernan, Killian Jackson, Ronan McLavin, Dylan Franzoni, David Maloney, Max Ripley, Shane Doran, Jack Gannon, Jack Mulligan, Cathal Elliffe, Conor O'Malley, Shane Corcoran, Philip Reynolds, Niall Claffey, Adam Cassidy, Andrew Dalton, Eoin Robinson, Shane Dalton,. Shandonagh 2 -09We made it three wins from three when we hosted Shandonagh in Castletown on Thursday evening. It took us a long time to settle in to this game and Shandonagh looked the better side until a brilliant solo goal from Shane Doran just before half time gave us a 1-7 to 1-3 lead at the break. The second half mirrored the first with our opponents making most of the running as they were quicker to the ball in most sectors and it took a well finished goal from Adam Cassidy to see us home. This display will not extend our unbeaten run in Division 1 as Shandonagh hit the post and crossbar on three occasions in the second half but this side know they can up their game when needed. Well done lads. .Panel: Sean Jackson, Oisin Kiernan, Killian Jackson, Dylan Franzoni, Max Ripley(0-2), David Maloney, Peter Murphy, Shane Doran(2-1), Jack Gannon(0-2), Cathal Elliffe(1-3), Conor O'Malley, Shane Corcoran(0-1), Jack Mulligan(0-1), Philip Reynolds, Niall Claffey, Eoin Robinson, Adam Cassidy(1-0), Sean Macken. Tyrone for the Feile last weekend. The competition turned out a great success for our team as we won both our opening games on Friday evening in Ballivor against Culloville and Ballivor. On Saturday morning in Ballinagore we took on Cookstown to see who would top our group and it was the visitors who came out on top which meant we had to head to Kildalkey later that day to take on Patrick Sarsfield's of Antrim in the quarter finals. This game proved the end of the road for our gallant team as the Antrim side won by four points after a very close game. The defeat was soon forgotten when the boys arrived back to Castletown to a fun filled evening which included a barbecue at the pitch with their new friends from Cookstown joining them. We must congratulate the mentors and parents of this team who pulled out all the stops to make the weekend such a success as they were only told a fortnight ago they would be hosting a team. The players also deserve huge credit as they had a very small panel to pick from due to holidays, injuries and also having to play in the intense heat against sides who had plenty of subs to run in and out proved a huge disadvantage but they can hold their heads high on their performance and attitude both on and off the field in what was a weekend they will never forget. Feile (Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th of April, 2018) On Saturday afternoon, we travelled into Springfield to take on the home side and Inny Shamrocks in the group stages. Following a great win over Inny Shamrocks, we played the hosts Mullingar Shamrocks in our second game. This was a tight affair but we prevailed in the end on a 2-02 to 1-03 scoreline. These wins qualified us out of our group for the quarter final which took place against Caulry in Mount Temple on Saturday evening. Our lads were on a roll at this stage and they comfortably saw off the challenge of the home side to qualify for the semi-final. The Downs
2 -08Congratulations to our Championship winning side who overcame The Downs in Moate with a very clinical display of not only fast attacking football but also brave and astute defending. With the aid of the strong breeze we needed to put The Downs on the backfoot and try and rack up a decent half time lead and a first minute goal from Killian Bolger set us on our way. Further goals from Killian, Peter Reynolds, Cody Finnane and Warric Kirby put us in the driving seat and our opponents had it all to do in the second half as they trailed on a scoreline of 6-03 to 0-04 at half time. As we expected the wind assisted lads in black and amber came at us in waves from the start of the second half but, as they have done all year, our backs tackled hard and fairly and soaked up the constant pressure they were under. Our forwards kept the scoreboard ticking over and we held on for a comfortable victory which was a fitting reward for this very skillful and hardworking outfit. There was great scenes of jubilation from the huge support we had when Warric Kirby lifted the cup and he thanked the management team of Sean Claffey, Conor Elliffe, Olly Kirby and Marty Dalton as well as team sponsors Mount Druid in his acceptance speech. St. Marys
0 -12Our Under 14's qualified for the county final with a thrilling win over St. Marys in this game played in very wet conditions in Tyrellspass on Saturday. We played second fiddle for the entire first half where St. Marys were on top in all sectors of the field and were it not for two brilliant saves from Peter Dalton we would have been behind far more than the 0-9 to 0-3 half time deficit. St. Marys took all their chances from open play and from frees whereas we missed several scorable frees and with only substitute, Peter Murphy, taking the game to our opponents we looked in deep trouble at half time. Whatever was said in the half time team talk certainly worked wonders as every player upped his game and took the fight to St. Marys. Peter Reynolds and Killian Bolger were unlucky not to score goals after we put together some great passing movements and just when it seemed we were never going to get the goal we needed up popped Peter Murphy to out jump two defenders and steer the ball into the net. St. Marys were still hanging onto a two point lead with five minutes left when Warric Kirby was hauled down for a penalty which he converted to put us a point up but in a breakaway attack St. Marys got an equalising point and the game looked to be heading for extra time. With the rain now pouring down our lads showed commendable spirit and following fantastic defending from David Maloney, Ryan Boyne and Tiernan McMahon they set up Shane Corcoran and man of the match, Peter Murphy, for the last two points of the game. Mullingar Shamrocks
2 -11We had an easier than expected victory over Mullingar in the first round of the championship in this game played in Ballinagore on Tuesday evening. Having suffered a slight loss of form in our last few league games this side certainly got back into their stride with this very clinical performance and had the game wrapped up by half time when they led by 8-07 to 1-04. When our opponents did threaten our goals they found Pater Dalton in fine form fronted by an excellent full back line. Jack O'Donnell had his best game of the year at midfield while Shane Corcoran and Niall Claffey got some fine points with Oisin Kiernan also impressing when introduced. Well done to all the panel on this impressive display and lets hope they can keep it going for the remainder of the championship. 2 -06Our Under 14's began their league campaign with an impressive win over a good Northern Gaels side in Ballinagore on Thursday evening. Despite being short a few players the lads on show put up a supberb display of great attacking football with some sweeping moves the length of the field ending in fine scores. It took us until the final quarter to pull clear of our opponents as there was just four points between the sides with fifteen minutes left but this side will prove hard to beat if they repeat the form they showed in this their first game of the year. St. Marys
1 -07Our Under 14's saved their best performance for last when they overcame the pre match favourites to win this final played in Rochfortbridge on Sunday morning. The home side, who had beaten us by 19 points earlier in the year, played against the wind in the first half and done well to hold us to a 3-6 to 1-3 half time lead. With wind advantage St. Marys threw everything at us but as in the semi final against Athlone our backs were both heroic and disciplined in their tackling. We combined very well to notch some great goals in the second half to run out easy winners and there was joyous scenes when Cian Gavigan accepted the Shield on behalf of this fine bunch of players. Well done to Marty Dalton, Paul Seery and Olly Kirby for all the work they put into this group throughout a long but fruitful year and the club wishes to thank Franky Wright(Lilliput Adventure Centre) and Mark Finnane(Environmental Building Systems) for their generous sponsorship of playing gear for the final. Athlone
1 -07In a game played in terrible weather conditions we defeated a fancied Athlone side to qualify for the Division 2 Shield Final. We had assistance of the strong wind in the first half but despite having a lot of the ball we went in at half time down by a point. It did'nt look good for us having to face the wind in the second half but we had the advantage of an extra man when an Athlone mid fielder was put off for persistant fouling. Our defence cleared every ball that went into their area in the second half but our forwards found the Athlone goalkeeper in excellent form and the game looked to be going in Athlone's favour when they led by a point with five minutes left. Amazingly in the final minutes everything went our way and we scored two goals and three points to seal a memorable victory to put us in the final where we will face St. Marys. Rosemount 1 -03Our under 14 side entertained Rosemount in Ballinagore on Wednesday night last in the league championship. Well done to all players and mentors for the fine effort they are putting into this side. The final scoreline was St. Malachys/Ballinagore 6-09, Rosemount 1-03. Multyfarnham 9 -08The under 14’s also took on Multyfarnham in

Unfortunately the result did’nt go the way of our under 12 result when Multy
ran out winners on a scoreline of St. Malachys/Ballinagore 8-04, Multy 9-08
after a great display from the thirteen players that took the field. We fielded
an understrength side on the night due
to several players being on holidays but hopefully we will be back at full
strength for the next round.

The final score was St. Malachys/Ballinagore 4-07, Mullingar Shamrocks 5-18. Panel; Jamie Fallon, Darren Fagan, Dylan Clarke, Paddy Doran, Eoin

Coralstown/Kinnegad 2 -06 On Saturday last our Under 14 side were in
action in Cusack Park when they took on Coralstown/Kinnegad in the Division 2
final. As expected this was always going to be a close affair as little
separated the two sides in an earlier encounter. Our opponents were a far
bigger and physically stronger side and the wide open spaces of Cusack Park
suited them but our lads had shown great determination to reach this final and
they were not going to go down without a fight. The loss of our midfielder,
Ciaran O’Brien, to injury early in the second half was a major blow but try as
we might we could not get an equalising goal as the clock ran down. The final
score was Coralstown/Kinnegad 2-06, St. Malachys/Ballinagore 1-06. Well done to
team mentors Pat Deegan, Ger Dalton and Brendan Robinson for all the work they
put in with these lads throughout the year. Under 14 Division 2 League Championship Semi Final

bragging rights at stake for these friendly rivals. On a wet and miserable day
for a game our lads came out on top and like their under 16 counterparts the
week before are now in the Division 2 final. We face Coralstown/Kinnegad in the
final and this should be a tight game as only a point separated the sides when
they met earlier in the year. The final score was St.Malachys/Ballinagore 6-07,
Kilbeggan/St. Josephs 2-07. Under 14 Division 2 League championship

Well done to the boys and their mentors on reaching this stage of a very competitive competition in which we competed well during the year.
